Format limitations
Documented product constraints so organizers are not surprised on tournament day. Prefer the portal UI copy when it conflicts with older Word guides.
Unsupported combinations
The event wizard will say the combination is not available without adding a new format. Examples:
- Singles / Doubles round robin (Teams RR only)
- Teams knockouts only (Teams need a group stage first)
- Swiss + playoffs for Singles / Doubles (playoffs are Teams-only)
Even group count with knockouts
For Swiss or RR with a following knockout, use 1 group or an even number of groups (2, 4, 6…) so crossover seeding works.
Teams Swiss KO generate
FormatIds 6 and 7 (Teams Swiss + knockouts/playoffs) can run rounds, but knockout generation currently rejects them. Use FormatIds 3 / 5 (RR + KO/playoffs) when you need generate-KO today.
Swiss only
Swiss only still stores a Swiss FormatId with KO defaults saved; the KO section is hidden at create time. Organizers may still generate KO later depending on ops UI — verify on the event before promising a KO draw.
Double elimination
- Play for every position / position matchups are not offered for double elim
- Field sizes are fixed powers of two for the DE tree
Sets
- Teams RR sets: One set / Best of 3 only (no Bo5 in RR setup)
- KO sets: One set / Best of 3 / Best of 5
FormatId packing
Rounds style × KO × event type is still mapped to existing Formats rows. Do not remap live FormatIds casually. Cleanup is tracked internally; treat IDs as stable support references, not renameable labels.
Streaming flags on create
Some event payloads include streaming / boardScores flags that are not toggles on the current event form (defaults apply on create). Use the event Stream tab regardless. Older guides that say “Enable Streaming” on the form are outdated.
Teams “generate all remaining rounds”
Backend support may exist; the UI button is currently hidden. Generate rounds one at a time from the Rounds tab.
SRR + double elim (13 / 14)
Shipped for Singles / Doubles. Smoke-test standings seeds → Winners / Eliminations → grand final (and if-needed) on a practice event before a ranked weekend.
